Today, the group in charge of helping people find affordable homes in Reno has good news.

They're letting more people sign up for a chance to get an affordable house or receive help paying for their home. This effort is part of a bigger plan to make sure more people in the area can afford a place to live.

People who find it tough to pay for housing now have until April 25th to join one or more lists that could help them find a home that doesn't break the bank. If you want to sign up or learn more, you can find all the details here

Or, if you prefer, you can visit their main office or the downtown Reno Library where they have special machines set up to help you apply.

Dr. Hilary Lopez, who leads the Reno Housing Authority, is really proud of the work they've been doing to help the community for over 80 years. They're always looking for new ways to make housing more available to everyone, whether through building more homes or offering different kinds of help.

Right now, they're turning the old Hawk View housing area into a new place with 200 homes for people who need a long-term place to stay. They've also just finished building 15 new affordable homes in downtown Sparks.

Dr. Lopez explains that affordable housing is super important. It can prevent people from becoming homeless or help those who already are.

The Reno Housing Authority handles 22 lists of affordable homes, offering hundreds of homes across the county.
